DMU093 - Into The Void EP - Definition, Night Talk
Released 2024-01-05
- Into The Void - Definition, Night Talk - 5:26
- Tempest - Definition, Night Talk - 6:42
Following their club hit Clockwork (released on Adriatique's Siamese imprint), played by the likes of Dixon, Trikk and Adriatique, Definition and Night Talk went back to the studio together and cooked up another storm.
Into the void hits from second one. Strong beats lead the way into this dreamlike soundscape, where metallic drum elements and effortless reverb tails take us on a journey. We get lost in a slow build and an unassuming bass-line drives us home, until the track collapses just to hit twice as hard coming back in. Dreamy vocals float over dirty synth lines, melodies that feel familiar guide the way to continuous build ups, where we can't help but move our bodies to the gritty, thumping bass-line pushing us forward relentlessly.
Tempest is all about the beat. Simple, yet endearing, it reels us in and guides us on an endless rise where fragile synth swells and powerful percussion elements tease our ears. High-pitched glimmers dance across the soundscape with ease. A track that rises again and again, yet never quite implodes in-between. Instead it builds, in the most natural way, skilfully and exquisitely, whilst sirens add a well-rounded urgency, that's hard to resist.

DMU092 - Temples - Allan Shotter
Released 2022-09-23
Remix by Definition
- Temples - Allan Shotter - 5:14
- Ueno - Allan Shotter - 4:13
- Cube March - Allan Shotter - 7:21
- Ueno (Definition Remix) - Allan Shotter - 6:54
Temples is a tempting invitation into another world, full of light and movement. From the second the synth comes in this track has got us deep in its pocket. Shotter manages something that is hard to achieve - he has us floating completely, yet steadily carried by tip-toeing metallic rhythm elements and the relentless swells of bright synths. The game changer in the second half is a new, gritty bass quality, which couldn't roll in any more fiercely. At its fullest the track has us in an uncompromising trance, a relentless movement that we don't ever want to escape from. Breaking back down to pleasantly gentle hi-hat reverb-tails and inducing synth patterns Temples lets us down easy, with the unspoken promise to return.
Ueno claims the room to itself completely and immediately. The rise and fall of melodic synth lines lead us through a labyrinth at first, leaving plenty of space for imagination. Before we notice playful call-and-response rhythms are teasing our ears, until the track surrenders itself to an ever-growing wave of synth patterns and their behind-the-beat-delay. It climaxes into a haunting silence with tenuous high-pitched sounds and a clear outer space feel. Finally, all elements lock into a comforting groove, driving us forward, not too fast, not too slow - exactly right.
The track starts off with a blissfully nostalgic vintage-feel - slightly muffled, like the humbling quality you get from an old Technics playing your favourite LP. But don't be fooled, Cube March is bold. And unexpected. Stomping rhythms take over quickly and full-blown gritty synth-stabs cut the air effortlessly, like blades. An unapologetic and careless pumping bass line makes us want to move with every cell in our body. Shotter demonstrates his fearlessness in experimenting with heavy contrasts and elements from different genres here. A break with tastefully placed repetitive rhythm elements is complemented by the constant ebb and flow of melody lines. Both in volume and presence they fluctuate, one handing over the spotlight to the other seamlessly, keeping us hooked until the very end.
This remix lures you away from reality in a matter of seconds, with Definition's signature heavy hitting bass dominating. He expertly weaves shimmery fills into buoyant synth lines and brings us a skilful mix of dark minimal techno, breaks and infectious monster synth lines. Every so often, he adds a new layer, increasing the depth of the track, before letting it all crumble in a breakdown where time stops and tension grows, as we impatiently await the next rise to carry us away. The lengthy build-ups give this remix the energy to fill any room, easily. It is subtle, yet propulsive, too - a lane that Definition seems to manage regularly.

DMU091 - Mother - ALMA (GER)

- Lost In The Stars - ALMA (GER) - 6:53
- Lost In The Stars (Avidus Remix) - ALMA (GER) - 6:42
- Mother (Definition Remix) - ALMA (GER) - 7:24
Following up to their acclaimed "Hold" EP, German duo Alma reemerge on Definition with their new transmission, "Mother". Through four cuts dropping anchor down the most remote nooks of our dance-friendly galaxy, Alma move the cursor from proper floor-focused 4x4 grooves to kosmische-informed pop excursions with dextrous style and seamless elegance. Crafting their own blend of emotionally whelming club music, it's material primed for extended use whether you are sitting on some high-rise, towering rooftops at sunrise or enjoying a freeze-dried cocktail on Alpha Centauri.
Presented in both original version and remix form courtesy of label head Definition himself, title-track "Mother" is the epitome of a slo-burner, rolling at low speed but gaining tension, weight and impactfulness as it runs. Circuits sizzling and piano stabs blazing, Alma dish out a compelling sample of their cross-dimensional wares, sure to take any dancefloor in the zone without further ado. Definition's Remix revamp trades the original's steady swing for a further syncopated, newbeat-infected swagger, laying further emphasis on the synth leads and lashing drumwork as poetic, bleached-out pads keep painting the sky all shades of pastel.
A more Italo-inflected affair at first, the tear-jerking "Lost In The Stars" has us gliding in a parallel universe of its own, where epic-sized synth combers and muscular bass onslaughts avalanche over brittle lines of soft-tongued vocals. As concretely submerging as it is designed to trigger off deep emotional response from the ravers, this one is tailored to weave instant communion between the jockey and his audience.
Flinging in the breaks and cross-cutting delays, Kiel outfit Avidus shift the angle of approach towards harder, faster EBM firepower, binding their rowdy, FX-soaked chords with the chorus to create a wholly distinct dancing and listening experience.

- Trojan Love (Sunset Mix) - Definition, Natascha Polké - 5:40
- Trojan Love (Tim Engelhardt Remix) - Definition, Natascha Polké - 6:50
'Trojan Love' plays tricks on your mind. Underground-feel meets organic sounds in the club mix version of Trojan Love, the latest collaboration of Definition and Natascha Polké. The track is highly nuanced from start to finish. Light, understated synth patterns keep teasing and rising, every now and then slipping through a filter to gain prominence. A throbbing bassline takes up all the space. Together with driving percussion it builds endlessly, until it's cut by uncompromising silence - only pierced by the disarming voice of Natascha Polké. (When the weighty bass rolls back in, total ecstasy). Somehow this track manages to increase in its intensity again and again, we rise and fall, led by melodious lines played on a dulcimer and a punchy kick that gives the track its potency.
Mindfully placed string elements bring in additional layers of ethereal vibes in the sunset mix of Trojan Love. Haunting, yet somehow light and playful they marry melancholy with humble attention to detail and feather-light percussion. Melodic dulcimer patterns flow like the stream of a waterfall and take over our moving bodies like a rolling bliss. Dream-like interludes let us catch our breaths just long enough to submerge anew. Natascha Polké has managed to create a consistency in the remarkable wide variety of this track that makes it the perfect place to get lost in comfortably - it feels like watching the sun rise and set over and over again.
Tim Engelhardt's remix of Trojan Love, the latest collaboration between Definition and Natascha Polké, is a skilful slow-burner pairing an ever-present melancholic atmosphere with organic programming. The producer weaves subtly disorientating vocal effects into harmonic fluidity with ease, underpinning it all with a steady beat that could carry us to the end of time. Engelhardt's manipulation of space is unparalleled. Racing synths and carefully placed melodic fragments take us on a deep journey, floating yet minimal, dark yet comforting - and wistful throughout.

DMU089 - Burning Out EP - Natascha Polké

Remixes by Definition, Night Talk
- Burning Out - Natascha Polké - 4:44
- Wildfire - Natascha Polké - 5:24
- Burning Out (Definition Remix) - Natascha Polké - 7:06
- Burning Out (Night Talk Remix) - Natascha Polké - 7:32
Natascha Polké's "Burning Out" EP is the follow-up release to "Stars Wrapped In Skin". It ties in seamlessly, bringing back the haunting qualities, fragile textures and driving beats the artist is known for. Whilst glistening in melancholy, the songs on this second release are just as upbeat and danceable. A release demanding to be played at hazy summer get-togethers as it gets late and we get lost in the rhythm of the night.
It kicks off with "Burning Out", a spheric track where organic sounds meet disarmingly intimate vocals. A soundscape that keeps building and falling like gushing waves. Nostalgic call and response movements carry us into the unknown of our inner universe with an irresistible groove, much like our own heartbeat, leading the way.
Next up: "Wildfire". A track with an atmosphere that lures you in and plays with your mind, teasing with enticing percussion and warped synths before making way for stunningly performed vocals. It fuses classic techno feel with contemporary aesthetics. Melody lines floating over a relentless groove guiding us straight into a dreamy soundscape. You can't help but dive in and it feels so good.
Launching straight into the breakbeat percussion and uncompromising synth line, Definition's remix of "Burning Out" enters the room like it's here to stay. The producer blends rough rawness with fragility, ties in thunder-like build-ups with intricate vocals and metallic synth stabs, harsh like blades. A remix that lives to be blasted in clubs and will easily demolish dance floors all over the world. This track is unrelenting, and you don't want it to stop.
The second remix stems from Night Talk. He's created a slow burner, a tune that keeps on building, where he skilfully controls the releases of energy, and places it exactly where and when it's needed. This remix is minimalistic and almost hypnotic in its darkside vibes.

DMU088 - Stars Wrapped In Skin EP - Natascha Polké
Released 2021-03-19
Remix by Aparde
- Stars Wrapped In Skin - Natascha Polké - 5:52
- I Don't Mind - Natascha Polké - 5:23
- Neverland - Natascha Polké - 4:06
- Neverland (Aparde Remix) - Natascha Polké - 6:27
The Definition:Music crew is more than happy to introduce a new member to their artist family and therefore we're sending a warm welcome to Natascha Polké. Backed by extensive studies in the UK metropolis of London, inspired by artists like Christian Löffler or Jan Blomqvist and drawing from her ever growing DJ & nightlife experience, which already saw Natascha Polké taking over slots at the famed Hive Club and other places, the Zurich-based artist developed a unique approach to what she describes as dreamy, melody-driven Electronica.
The title track and opener "Stars Wrapped In Skin" starts on a complex, melodically intricate level, combining warm, analogue basslines and crystalline motifs for the dancefloor whilst Natascha Polké's tender and fragile vocals add a certain element of beauty, melancholia and masterly sculpted sonic poetry, no matter if this tune is hammered through a big club P.A. or played on late night radio.
"I Don't Mind" indulges in deeply felt, most beauteous dancefloor melancholia and turns out to be one perfect closing tune for a long and ecstatic night out that's about to end way after the wee hours have passed.
With "Neverland" we see Natascha Polké's love for the dancefloor and huge basslines manifest once again, this time fusing with cascading synth lines and hyper-harmonic arrangements whilst her distinct vocal style harks back to a history of well beloved big time bangers, which left a mark and carved out their niche within the global musical consciousness and extended beyond the realm of club culture over the course of the past 25 years.
Last but not least: The subsequent "Neverland Aparde Remix" alters the original cut only slightly and takes the vibe to an even dreamier, more harmonic level perfectly suitable for daytime or early morning sets fully dedicated to a style oftentimes referred to as Melodic House - garnished with a bit of Natascha Polké's unique Indietronica twist, ofc.

DMU087 - Lux EP - Definition
Released 2021-02-05
- Lux - Definition - 8:16
- Odyssee - Definition - 7:52
- Phoenix - Definition - 7:36
- Raven - Definition - 7:19
'Lux' is what we use to measure the intensity of light as we perceive it, when it's hitting or passing through a surface. The first track, that gives the EP its name, embodies exactly that - the fluctuating, ever-changing nature of light; from fragile and fleeting to overwhelming and powerful.
'Lux' kicks off with warm synths creeping in, like rays of sunlight breaking through the clouds. Dreamy crescendos take you for a ride and build up until they melt into a comforting blanket of piano chords, accompanied by a propelling hi-hat pattern that will make you want to move. The track is hopeful, the start of a journey, with compelling break downs, industrial rhythm elements and powerful build-ups such as the one to the final section, dominated entirely by its fusion between techno-beat and dance-feel.
Next up is 'Odyssee'. An unapologetic track that picks up the pace. Kicking off boldly with harmonic tension and enticing drum sounds, it's hard not to surrender to the rich and fast-moving soundscape. Proud drums meet steel sounds and tentative piano figures, all glued together by the driving beat, determined to get to the next stop of this lifelong voyage. Striking accents, in the form of short-lived breaths or staccato bass lines take you through a labyrinth of growing gritty synths. A track that easily leads you through space and time and makes it feel like the most natural thing in the world.
We're greeted with standalone bright and sparkly synth movements as 'Phoenix' rises and wraps us in warmth. Gently, like raindrops, a rhythmic pattern starts dripping in. Definition, like in many of his other works, blends rhythmical sounds that couldn't be more different into one, making them sound like they were never meant to exist unless next to each other. The track is a symbiosis of modern and classical sounds, lets us bathe in analogue warmth but always rolls along with digital precision. 'Phoenix' starts softly and ends in roaring flames: in a repetitively enchanting party, fabricated out of dark, pumping beats and gritty synths.
'Raven', the final of the four tracks and the lead single (released alongside the Jonas Ratshman remix just 1 week ago), intrigues with chants and empowerment just as much as with its determination and fragility. Falling from the highest heights, Raven lets you rediscover who you are when you hit the ground. Carried by a throbbing four-on-the-floor kick drum and covered in a synth-haze that is hard to resist, you'll float along, fall and rise with the everlasting wave-like movement of human existence.
'Lux' is out on 05/02/2021 via Definition:Music.

DMU086 - Raven - Definition
Released 2021-01-29
Remix by Jonas Rathsman
- Raven - Definition - 7:19
- Raven (Jonas Rathsman Remix) - Definition - 7:02
Raven is Definition's newest track and lead single ahead of the Lux EP, released alongside a Remix by Jonas Ratshman. The track is a voyage through the highest heights and unapologetic lows of the human existence. When the beat hits and conga-like drums and chants set in, powerful and determined, you find yourself reminiscing about another world, one you've never seen but deep down know is there. The throbbing and driving four-on-the-floor keeps you moving with certainty.
The track grows, slowly but steadily, one layer after another, meandering through different motions. Playfully plucked melody lines and intricate hi-hat patterns evolve into waves of legato synth lines. Followed by an endless moment in time, carried solely by high-end synth-stabs and metallic drum sounds, it finally escalates into a roaring flood of dirty synth basses. It's only after, that serenely vocals reveal and tell the story of knowing oneself and what it takes to be honest enough to admit defeat solely to be able to move on. All underpinned by a relentless rhythm, the kind that draws you in and, once it's got a hold of you, never quite lets go.
Jonas Ratshman's remix of Raven is just as easy to indulge in as the original. With a strong emphasis on offbeat elements and skilfully placed high-end melodic fragments, Ratshman's remix grows into a slightly more dance floor orientated version of the tune. Bright chords and subtly placed vocal crescendo's inviting in forgotten summer feels are complemented by cleverly layered call-response build up's, leading you astray in a maze of your own thoughts whilst dancing the night away.
A mellow kick sound that makes you want to move steadily, an early on-set vocal taking you by the hand. This remix is a dreamlike and wistful marriage between pumping low-ends from the techno world and spine-tingling bright pads, driving beats and glistening shimmers of sweet high-end effects. Ratshman has managed to highlight another shade of the original - a co-release that makes for a tempting addition.
Raven is demanding. It's like falling out of the sky into deep waters, getting lost and being found, over and over and over. Out via Definition:Music on 29. January 2021
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.

- Siren feat. Natascha Polké (Audiojack Remix) - Definition, Natascha Polké - 6:08
On the 13th November 2020 Definition's latest venture will see the light of day. The collaboration features artist Natascha Polké, providing hauntingly beautiful whispers and spoken word elements that hypnotise instantly, luring the listener into another world, like the call of an unknown siren.
The tune is mesmerising and thrilling in its simplicity - a six-minute journey that marries minimalism with distinctively dreamy bell action, creating a gleaming soundscape spacious enough to get lost in. Skillfully tied together by ever-evolving reverb tails, grounding synth sounds and a beat that drives, calmly and steadily, "Siren" is bound to captivate.
The release comes alongside a remix by Audiojack. The duo's version is underpinned by their trademark - a distinctively pumping beat that leaves you no choice but to dance along to. Putting heavy emphasis on stereo spread lo-fi synth effects and exquisite dynamics that leap and fall like roaring waves they've created a version of the song that can carry us away for days.

DMU084 - Hold EP - ALMA (GER)
Released 2020-05-29
feat. Definition
Remix by ALMA
- Hold - ALMA (GER) - 6:24
- You - ALMA (GER) - 6:52
- Relinquished (ALMA Remix) - Definition - 6:24
Definition:Music is back for a new season, proudly presenting a fresh release that has been in the making for about 12 months now - ALMA (GER)'s "Hold EP". Marking the beginning of a new era in the label's history this new single, available both on vinyl as well as on digital platforms, is about to pave the way for more great things to come within the Definition:Music cosmos.
The opening title track "Hold" sees the duo that is ALMA (GER) on a heart-warming, melodic TechHouse tip - a style they're known and loved for since they first joined forces in the studio. With well thought out arrangements and carefully layered elements things are building up big time, sending dancefloors to heaven even before the tune's captivating main vocals appear to certainly create a bridge between (Neo)Trance-infused club culture and a decent, yet obvious Electronic Pop appeal for a wider audience.
Following up is "You", the second original track crafted by ALMA (GER) for this release. From a techier start this musical offering is built off of a super solid TechHouse stomp, intertwined, ever modulating synth lines alongside atmospheric risers, a short, slightly warped main motif and - once again - mysterious, spine-tingling vocal elements enchanting entire venues within seconds, providing memorable moments for each and every punter out on the floor.
Finally ALMA (GER) is in for a special treatment, taking over remix controls for "Relinquished" - a tune originally created by Definition:Music's creative force and head honcho Definition himself. Coming from a deeper, naturalistic angle this re-work offers a slightly tribalistic, possibly latin-infused groove for balearic sunset sets, paired with widescreen panoramas, beauteous, tender and romantic piano licks as well as a dreamlike atmosphere made to fall in love with all the beautiful people surrounding each and every dancer, sharing this special moment with one another.

- Scaramanga - Marco Berto, A.R.U.N. - 6:46
- Kigali - Senses Of Mind - 7:53

Definition:Music is pleased to share the Various Artists Unleashed I with you, a small selection of handmade bangers and burners from highly talented artists Himade, Marco Berto, A.R.U.N., Senses Of Mind and Stolberg.
'Unco' is the first track on the EP, and here Himade created a thick and heavy techno banger with a pleasantly classical feel.
Next the heat rises with Marco Berto and A.R.U.N. with 'Scaramanga'. Warm soft where it needs to be and harder in all the right ways to keep the dancefloor hustling.
Senses of Mind bring a dark atmosphere with sinister undertones in 'Kigali'. Tension rises with a consistent arp and the pressure is increased to create another sweaty techno number.
Stolberg on the other hand, takes us back to a warm bed of plucked strings and vocals in the distance as the sun peeks from the horizon. A warm, catchy tune and a fantastic close to a wonderful journey from beginning to end.

'Pluto' rides the same wave with its ARP's and hypnotic rhythm pushing further and harder in all directions at once.
As far as wood goes, Mahagoni is on the hard side, so it's a fitting theme for this adventure into the dark forests of Marc's imagination. 'Mahagoni' is all about steamy drones, chilling mood shifts and tingling ambience that ensure a fantastic yet mysterious atmosphere throughout the track.

DMU080 - Sturm & Drang EP - Julian Wassermann
Released 2018-07-20
- Sturm - Julian Wassermann - 6:45
- Drang - Julian Wassermann - 6:41
'Sturm & Drang', or 'Storm' and 'Pressure' is what Julian Wasserman's 2-tracker is all about. From the first moment of the title track it's clear what we're in for; a dark and heavy storm of electronic energy.
'Sturm' captures a tech-house vibe with hypnotic synths laid out over a hard-edged pulsing bass to give us a huge dose of action in a single track. With its very tactile vibe, the track urges us into submission as it takes over the night skies well into the early hours.
Next, 'Drang' slowly spreads its heavy wings with rhythmic synths and dubby ambience as a gritty bass growls between the beats. The track develops into a full on rage that is not to be taken lightly and not without preparation. A beautiful EP in its own right, and a spectacular addition to the Definition:Music catalogue.

Making his appearance in the French scene in 2012, Marst has built a solid reputation for driving house and deep groove; the Paris-Detroit Express EP is no exception.
First up he treats us to the dark rumble of X2X, capitalizing on a rich and dirty synth rhythm with a late night dancefloor vibe. Marst takes it even deeper with a sinister track called Awake, in which he plays with a heavy atmosphere packed with deviant synths and melodies.
The title track reflects its title straight away, a blend of Detroit House with a French touch, driving rhythms and solid production create an absolute banger. Darius then takes this and adds a bit of bounce, giving the track a house-y vibe while still holding the pressure.

Diego dwells in the shadows, moving slowly and rarely. Yet still he pulls your strings in subtle ways, it's what he does best.
The tension increases yet Diego won't let go, he keeps us hooked with a deep groove and increasing intensity. The vibe shifts as the clouds part. He invites the sun's warm rays to come out to play. There is more to Diego than meets the eye. Despite his appearances, Diego is still just a guy.

First up, however, is the title track; a soothing deep ride into rhythmic bass growls and a rousing, warm atmosphere topped with a beautifully crafted melody that goes straight to the heart.
"Value of Time" continues the experience with a slightly more sinister vibe, heavier kicks and a slow building soundscape capture our imaginations. The fluttering melodies arrive and the mood shifts to an almost melancholic feel before diving deep into the dark waters.
Finally, "Life Goes On" drops us into a relaxed, chill-house vibe with a delightful ambience. As the strings rise the atmosphere thickens and we are blissfully taken to a place of soulful, heartfelt electronic music. This is not your average banger, but rather a warm journey to the center of the heart.

DMU074 - Unleashed EP - Definition
Released 2018-01-26
- Yelo - Definition - 7:11
- Miu - Definition - 8:27
- Red Sky - Definition - 7:05
Dimitri Definition Schnider drops another heavy EP on his growing imprint of the same name. Unleashed features 3 originals from the artist, each expressing its own passion in dynamic ways.
First Yelo swoops in to start a fire with its low-key approach with a steady heat glowing from between the beats, creating a soulful and deep experience.
Miu takes the stage next, trapping our imagination with a frail vocal narration as the beats swell and the bass builds, sending out a beautiful message to the universe and anyone listening. The track tops out as a serious dancefloor contender with plenty of groove to take us to the stars and back and that is a good thing because we want to be back for the final track, an itchy tech-house groover titled Red Sky.
From beginning to end, a gritty bassline keeps the track in line while everything around it transforms into a world of beauty. Rich, slow moving pads glide over the top of steamy percussive lines as the track dives deeper into the warm night air.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.
DMU073 - Secret Vowels EP - Freakme, Packim
Released 2017-12-29
- Secret Vowels - Freakme, Packim - 7:58
- Helium - Freakme, Packim - 7:23
- Africae - Freakme, Packim - 7:34
FreakMe and Packim stand side by side for their three-track EP, Secret Vowels. Each making their debut on Definition:Music, the two producers create a fantastically dark and moody atmosphere in which to set their journey.
The title track pumps a haunting vibe as its bass bounces and the percussions ramp up and the track becomes a true late-night floor filler.
'Helium' pushes on with a lighter bounce in its tech-house step. Not without its moments, Helium keeps the energy tight and steady as it prepares us for the final piece, 'Africae'.
As the title suggests, we're taken to a world of natural percussion, warm vocals and a beautiful groove that keeps you coming back for more. The energy bubbles up from below and fills the room with a warm glow before setting us gently down to bring the EP to a beautiful end.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.
DMU072 - Pigalle EP - Teenage Mutants, Sezer Uysal
Released 2017-12-01
- Pigalle - Teenage Mutants - 6:11
- Dominate feat. Sezer Uysal - Sezer Uysal, Teenage Mutants - 7:23
Definition:Music is thrilled to unleash Teenage Mutants' latest dark invader; the Pigalle EP.
Stirring within the depths of Pigalle, a battery of chords punctuate the heated techno ambience while a dirty low end growls under a highly charged bed of thick percussion. Pushing onward and upward Pigalle drives a sinister path through a field of late night dancefloor prowess, then creates a scene turning the heat up to a boil and letting loose when the time is right.
Next the duo calls on the talented Turkish producer Sezer Uysal for another round with Dominate. Fitting is the title as the track unfurls heaps of energy with its powerful bassline and haunting vocal ambience. The buildup of its rhythmic synths as they dart between the beats and squawk along the hard edge of the bassline is irresistible, creating a fever of motion and a satisfying portion of sinister vibes.
So when night is young and when we're away, Pigalle will come to play. By now we're sure it's safe to say something wicked comes this way.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.

The mastermind behind the label, Definition himself returns with a massive new solo release, Falling EP. With his last solo release nearly a year back, one look at the tracklist gives us an idea why 5 new and exclusive works quality takes time. The title track opens the EP in a deep and melodic landscape burning low and steady. The vocal cuts bring an ethereal vibe as the synths crescendo and the kick beats on.
Next Dimitri shows us another side, 'Tulipe Noir' engages us in an electric fantasy full of swirling arpeggios cloaked in retro vibes. The collaboration with his friend Def:Play spends a tribute to an old Soul, which introduced them and kicked off the start for a beautiful friendship. A beautiful adventure right from the begin, thanks to a stunning arrangement and a knack for flow.
'Emotions' drops us in a world of deep heavy kicks with tense air between them. The pads rise. The reason for our journey is clear as the floor throbs with bass. But that's not all, the waters get warmer, and the sun does shine, if only briefly.
Turning up the groove, 'Gone' melts the tension with a smooth groove and a solid drive. By the middle of the track, were caught with a contagious rhythm and natural swing.
The final track of the EP is perhaps its warmest - a beautiful break-beat adventure fantastically vocalized by Liu Bei. 'Rise Again' is that upbeat catchy summer tune you just can't get enough of - done tastefully and elegantly. A beautiful and warm conclusion to an outstanding EP.

Fellow Swiss national and underground up & comer Night Talk delivers a titillating 3 track EP 'Hypnotized' to Definition:Music.
First he sets the mood with the title track (feat. SUMA), a wonderfully tense atmosphere is contrasted with the smooth, lush vocals of SUMA to great effect - creating an intriguing dynamic balance between the two. Next, LOR steps in to deliver his version; a deeper and heavier blend with a dash of techno, house and electronica, leaving his fingerprint behind.
The final track, another original, takes the darkest path. Arps, rhythmic synth and lovely vocal pads create an ethereal experience and a safe bet for a hungry floor.

- Seeya (Definition Remix) - Ron Flatter - 7:34
- Weaponized Soul - Ron Flatter - 6:51
Ron Flatter drops a stunning new bomb on Definition:Music, 'Seeya EP', including Definition remix.
The title track opens the EP, a deep and groovy percussion line warms the air as the vocals glide over the peaks and the energy steadily rises. Ron weaves a beautiful atmosphere, spilling with magic. The track continues to grow until we are faced with a full on dancefloor killer.
Definition's remix adds a gritty and playful bass line, giving the track more edge while he goes to work on the vocals, adding rhythmic cuts and edits to add an extra layer of motion and heat.
The second original here, and last track, is a beefy number growling with a deep bass as the strings rise and the heat is on. From here it's a sweaty affair made for late nights and heavy floors.

Lee van Dowski then gives the track a harder edge and drowns it in deep techno. His no nonsense remix steams forward with full force as you begin to lose control. This is late night entertainment at its finest.
Hot on the tails is the title track, 'Black Spider', which again, drives deep and hard as the electricity in the air thickens and the track opens the roof and sets the stars on fire. They say save the best for last, well this is it.

From the very start, we're hooked on the thick bass and rumbling percussion as the vocal bliss creeps in and takes over the journey. A perfect blend of grit and silky vocals, the track delivers a warm vibe while teasing dark synth crescendos throughout.
For the next track 'Of You', Rafael teams up with Jonathan Backelie to give us another driving vocal house track with a fantastically retro feel. DMU066 - Save Me EP - Piemont
Released 2017-03-06
- Save Me - Piemont - 6:14
- Elastic - Piemont - 6:46
German duo Piemont return with a two-tracker for Zurich's Definition:Music, 'Save Me / Elastic'. Frederic Moering-Sack and Christian De Jonquieres have been releasing their distinctive, twisted kind of house music for over a decade on the likes of Exploited, Terminal M, Skint and Area Remote - and of course Definition:Music, a label that has played host to material from the likes of Darius Syrossian, Josh Butler, Reboot, Nick Curly and many more.
First on the package is 'Save Me', a progressively tensing composition fuelled over six minutes by elongated bass drones, sweeping synth swells, atmospheric chords and a rhythmic shuffle.
'Elastic' follows and completes the release, opting for a restrained approach built on wobbling organic percussion and round bass drones next to a dynamic synth hook, snaking stabs and a buzzing vocal.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.

On board is a remix from Piemont, who's taken the vibe to a chill shuffle with a warm groove. A refreshing compliment to the vibe of the original. Mattia Pompeo, on the other hand, dives right back into the track's techno roots, and whips up an intensely electrifying remix in the process.

- Capricorn feat. Thomas Gandey - Thomas Gandey, Definition - 7:25
Definition and Thomas Gandey join forces for the next Definition:Music release; Vision EP. Definition take us on a dark and gritty journey through the night with the title track. Gandey's vocals come low and raspy, adding to the already pitch-black atmosphere. Next they keep us on our feet with a hefty beat, with the synths slowly blending in.
A riveting track, Capricorn follows the same path laid out by Vision, dark, dirty and bubbling with energy. Another dance-floor-killer with bass to spare - nothing out of the ordinary for these guys.

DMU063 - 1000 Drops EP - Onur Ozman
Released 2016-12-12
- Love Theory - Onur Ozman - 8:13
- Cryptic - Onur Ozman - 7:49
- 1000 Drops - Onur Ozman - 8:02
Onur Özman brings three tracks to Definition:Music that keep their distance from the obvious - his own signature runs through all of them.
'Love Theory' opens at the experimental end, unsettled and hard to place, and it stays that way instead of resolving into something comfortable.
'Cryptic' is the groove of the record, the one that goes straight into a set.
'1000 Drops' closes with vocal chops and rolling piano - the most immediate of the three, and still unmistakably his.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.
DMU062 - Progression Remixed - Definition
Released 2016-11-25
Remixes by Gabriel Ananda, ARTBAT
- Caught Out feat. Pete Josef (Gabriel Ananda Remix) - Definition - 9:00
- Come Down feat. Liu Bei (ARTBAT Remix) - Definition - 8:07
Two tracks off the 'Progression LP', handed to two producers who took them in opposite directions.
Gabriel Ananda strips 'Caught Out' back and lets it take its time - nine minutes of patient, hypnotic minimal built on a single synth figure, close to the register of his own 'Solitary Daze' with Maceo Plex.
ARTBAT go the other way with 'Come Down'. Droning synths, all pressure and forward motion - the sound they had made their own by the end of 2016.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.
DMU061 - Legacy / Genesis - Saccao, Anturage
Released 2016-10-31
- Legacy - Saccao, Anturage - 6:16
- Genesis - Saccao, Anturage - 6:41
Anturage and Saccao join forces for a two-tracker that lives at the dark end of the spectrum.
'Legacy' sets the tone with sombre, hypnotic grooves that circle instead of climbing - closer to the Tale Of Us end of the floor than to peak-time house, and all the more effective for it.
'Genesis' stays in the same night and puts a little more swing underneath. The groove sits looser, the pressure a touch higher, and the two read as one record rather than two tracks.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.
DMU060 - Decline EP - Vangelis Kostoxenakis
Released 2016-10-10
- Decline - Vangelis Kostoxenakis - 7:29
- Sustained Soul - Vangelis Kostoxenakis - 8:20
- Dawn Of A Don - Vangelis Kostoxenakis - 6:57
One of Greece's most talented comes to Definition:Music. Vangelis Kostoxenakis presents Decline EP, expanding the artist's long list of releases. With three tracks, the EP begins to look pretty standard, until you press play. Vangelis has meticulously crafted a few diverse vibes here.
Where the title track is a frantic sprint filled with stunning synthwork and a couple breathtaking moments, the second track, 'Sustained Soul' sits somewhere on the spectrum of tech-house, bouncy in its percussion and dark with its synths, a contradiction if you will, that Vangelis pulls off beautifully.
And then we have the final track, 'Dawn of a Don', an almost purely-house track that is not afraid to take the wheel and explore to corners, complete with arp-plucks, vocal cuts and a very persuasive percussion.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.
DMU059 - Kontagion EP - Rafael Cerato
Released 2016-09-19
- Kontagion - Rafael Cerato - 9:00
- Melancholia - Rafael Cerato - 9:41
- Artefak - Rafael Cerato - 7:28
With his sounds already having graced the catalogues of some of the scene's most influential and respected tastemakers - Stil vor Talent, Diynamic, Saura and more - Raphael Certato now drops some tunes on Definition:Music. The 'Kontagion' EP is a 3 track affair aimed at the dancefloor. The first of the bunch sends an immediate signal of what's to come, deep and moving dance music.
He's not playing games as the title track jumps right into the thick of it, driving percussion and dramatic swells add an ominous tone. The atmosphere of 'Melancholia' is a dusty, epic landscape filled with dirty synth and heavy rhythm and a satisfying end.
Raphael keeps the energy flowing with 'Artefak', the second track of the EP. Here he has taken the sound a bit down, here we hear a bit less of the epic-ness heard in the first track, and focus on a gritty techno scene. As brilliant as it is contagious.
Finally, the last track lightens the mood considerably, while still maintaining the tense on-edge-y-ness feel. The percussion have been lightened and everything overall feels a touch more organic, more human than the fist-clenching first two.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.

Swiss DJ & producer Sabb drops a remix, shifting gears to a hot and steamy tech house number while Definition drives the track into a spacey atmospheric version, putting his skills for mood and tone on display in brilliant fashion here.
The three versions make for a fantastic EP, exploring several possibilities for all situations beautifully and each worth a few listens to fully absorb the details.

DMU057 - Delusion EP - Several Definitions
Released 2016-08-22
- Delusion - Several Definitions - 8:47
- Against The Clock - Several Definitions - 7:23
Swiss Dj & producer Several Definitions drops by Definition:Music to leave a deep and heavy 2 track EP, Delusion. With releases already on labels like Diynamic, Stil Vor Talent, and Saura, the expectations are set high.
But we're hooked right from the beginning of the title track with a no-nonsense approach to get the floor moving. A kick breaks the silence, accompanied by stuttering hats. What starts small, blooms into an epic dancefloor experience, more tech than house. Fast, rhythmic basslines and steamy percussion is the name of the game here.
The second track sports inviting bassline melodics, keeping the pressure up with distortion and deep kicks. This is another late night show stopper, pulling its own weight on the floor and begging to be played.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.
DMU056 - Hours EP - Night Talk
Released 2016-08-15
- Drowning - Night Talk - 5:35
- Blue Hour - Night Talk - 7:39
- Golden Hour - Night Talk - 6:48
Night Talk whips up a deep and dusty mood with his latest EP on Definition:Music. Enter the Hours EP; A 3 track adventure through some of the darkest corners of the night.
'Drowning' starts us off chugging along with the tensions slowly rising as the synths play their game among the shadows. Soon enough, Night Talk shows us what 'Drowning' is all about, captivating in its simplicity and elegant in its execution.
'Blue Hour' turns the dials a bit further, adding a new level of hustle with a bit more drama in the mix. Still deep, still dark, and still very ripe for the dancefloor.
Coming up on the 'Golden Hour' now, Night Talk lets things relax, but only just - the track still has enough swing in it to keep a floor packed, but with a bit more warmth and less tension than its more epic siblings.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.
DMU055 - Paradise City - Sascha Sonido
Released 2016-07-25
Remix by David Keno
- Paradise City - Sascha Sonido - 7:33
- Paradise City (David Keno Remix) - Sascha Sonido - 6:23
- Freak Like Me - Sascha Sonido - 7:09
Sascha Sonido joins the Definition:Music family with a beautiful 3 track EP, Paradise City. Within lies 2 originals and a David Keno remix, each of which carry their own distinct personality.
The original mix of Paradise City takes a deep, looming path, keeping the kicks low and the atmosphere thick. The vocal weaves in and out, giving chills left and right while the arpeggios maintain a fantastic sense of suspense.
David Keno's remix on the other hand, lifts the track out of deep house territory and fits it with a tech-house groove. Driven by a diverse percussive palate, the track begs for a dance as David Keno holds the pressure throughout.
The final track remains a bit more conservative in comparison, keeping the energy a steady heat rather than a full out blaze. It rests on absolutely stunning synthwork, paired with a vocal hook that digs deep, and grabs you along for the ride. A blissful, warm journey through the sunset.

DMU053 - Shuvit EP - Piemont
Released 2016-06-27
- Shuvit - Piemont - 6:19
- Keep On - Piemont - 6:46
- Squeeze - Piemont - 6:34
Piemont jump back on board with their latest 3 track creation, the Shuvit EP. We're no strangers to Piemont, their last EP dropped in January and here we are now.
The title track is a faster-paced tech-house number that thrives on that old house vibe. It's warm, it's bright, and it's ready for the floor. Drawing inspiration from classic house and disco, the track elicits a kind of euphoric bliss that can only be described as magic.
'Keep On' follows in a similar way, opting for a grittier, deeper feel while still keeping the classic nuances that made house a worldwide phenomenon; heavy rhythm, deep grooves and infectious vocal cuts.
The final track on the EP 'Squeeze' lightens the mood, but is in no way soft. The track bounces a bassline between the beats, creating a bouncy feel that feels just at home on the packed dancefloor of a dark and sweaty club as it does on a sunny open-air.
Available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, YouTube Music.

Deep kicks, solid bass and a dark ambience send menacing vibes straight to the floor, dripping with the electric energy of the arps as the percussion lays the foundations.
'I'm in Heaven With You' hits the hardest, with a smooth vocal threaded between the beats to create a beautiful journey through Dragon Suplex's universe while delivering a super solid dance track that is sure to sneak its way soon into top playlists.
'Can't Stop' follows in the same footsteps, keeping the suspense thick and the vibe deep and dark. 'Emotitones' ends the EP on a bouncy groove, only to fill the space with a few very dramatic synth lines and a contagious atmosphere.
Overall this is an EP for the dancefloor enthusiast, those looking to get the floor into a sweat for the peak time shuffle.

The title track is up now. Definition projects an electric landscape in which we ride through the night on a steel horse made of pure electricity toward the peak-time rush and unearth "Progression". A solid track throughout, from the first deliberate kick, to the delicate break and beyond.
"Janus" brings thick and gritty bass stabs to a driving tech house groove, creating a blend of deep, dark realms with a hot and steamy pressure.

"Without Any Doubt" slowly rises from nothing and transforms itself into a beast of beautiful orchestra of chords and harps.
Finally, one last vocal track to bring closure to the LP. "This Mystery feat. Jinadu" is a power ballad that delivers on all fronts and spreads a warm glow with a solid groove.

- Momentum - ARTBAT - 7:40
Artbat rips open a delicious EP with 'Chivvy / Momentum' on Definition:Music. A two track affair, 'Chivvy / Momentum' sets out to take some serious crowds head on.
A dirty bassline sequence writhes to form the meat of 'Chivvy'. From there, the duo takes the track further with thumping kicks, adding even more pressure with each note of the melody. A fantastic late night journey.
'Momentum' shifts the focus off of the flexed muscles of Chivvy, and into an equally energizing subtler realm. This is a dark underground track, with the vocal monologue adding to the natural feel of the track. Two distinct flavors, each packing heat, making for an outstanding EP.

The latest addition to the Definition:Music catalogue comes from German Tech-house producer Fabio Montana, who brings Francys and Channel X for remix duties. From the start Fabio lets us know where we are and fills the cup with bass and rhythm. From there we rise on a brilliant atmospheric tour through the Mantikor stratosphere. Menacing swells, catchy percussion and a keen sense of composition bring this track together and allow for a massive attack on the dancefloor. Francys then takes this and dials up the energy a tick to give us a beast of a remix.
'Axes of Evil' follows a similar path, dark, dirty and sweaty. Here the synths bubble, eventually boiling over into a hot mess of bass and melody.
And finally, Channel X's remix puts an exclamation mark at the end of the EP taking no prisoners with their heavy-handed, full-blooded techno remix; terrifyingly delightful.

- Fear (ReFeared Mix) - Definition - 8:13
- Fear (Ron Flatter Remix) - Definition - 7:34
- Fear (Blancah Remix) - Definition - 8:15
After destroying dancefloors the world over at the hands of Karmon, Joyce Muniz, Wankelmut and Agoria, 'Fear' is back. Definition returns with the ReFeared Mix which adds small changes on the bassline and some vocal shouts, just to underline the main melody of the track.
Ron Flatter's remix comes flying in ready to do some damage. The groove is hot and loose; he keeps it steady, low, and strong while climbing and falling in all the right places.
BLANCAh takes a bigger approach, opening all the gates and letting the synths soar. The remix definitely delivers a punch, dealing a healthy dose of techno with it.

Released 2015-11-30
feat. Benjamin Frnkln
- Friends - Dilby, Benjamin Frnkln - 6:54
- Sneaky One - Dilby - 7:09
- Pacing the Halls - Dilby - 7:16

Dilby has been steady releasing on a handful of choice labels for some time now, and teams up with singer Benjamin FRNKLN, whose previous work with Butch, alongside a string of releases on Hot Creations and Cecile has earned himself a great recognition worldwide.
The first track 'Friends' is proof, with a low-and-dirty bassline droning beneath a strong kick opening the show, the vocals slowly introduce themselves with great effect. The track slowly releases, keeping a consistent, high level of energy without overstepping.
'Pacing the Halls' follows a similar, but much darker vibe. The energy here takes its time, but worth the wait.
Finally, 'Sneaky One' breaks down all the walls and opens the energy-floodgates. Immediately we are moved by the percussion and the slow rise of synths. Remix by Tommy Vercetti
- Lifting You Up - Dene Antony - 6:56
- Lifting You Up (Tommy Vercetti Remix) - Dene Antony - 7:20
Definition:Music pays homage to its roots with Dene Antony's 'Lifting You Up EP'. Here, Dene leads us through a jackin' house atmosphere starting with the immediate energy of the opening percussion. Dene then pushes us further with a deep and playful bassline as the vocal crescendos. While he plays with it, the energy continues to rise and the peak is a heavy, sweaty, house track made for the floor.
Next, Dene's good friend Tommy Vercetti takes the track for a spin, reducing it to a more relaxed house track, letting the warmth take over and the percussion drive the track where it needs to go. Beautifully executed. Together with the original, the EP has shaped up to be an outstanding UK house release.

- Drop Your Gimmicks - Darius Syrossian - 6:14
We are super thrilled to bring you our next release from one of the newest heavyweights in house music, Darius Syrossian. With his life firmly rooted in music for the last 20 years, it's no wonder why he's so good at what he does, Listen Up is a testament to that.
Both the Dub version and the 'Listen Up Vox Mix' of 'Give You Some' rest on the A-side. Opening with percussion, the impending rhythmic bassline quickly grabs our attention. Darius throws us some vocal sampling in the Vox Mix, creating an outstanding raw and iconic house vibe.
Flipping it over, we find 'Drop Your Gimmicks' on the B-side. This one is a bit more serious and bit less bouncy. With a deeper bass line that tells you what time it is, and the percussion to keep your feet shuffling, the track is, as Darius puts it, 'True House Music'.

- Take Me Higher (Kevin Over Remix) - Dene Antony - 6:13
Definition welcomes Dene Antony a second time to the family with his 3 track heavy - house EP 'Take Me Higher', including a remix from the prodigal Kevin Over.
Naturally opening the EP with the title track, Dene fills the room with warm tones and a deep grooving bass. He's achieved a beautiful classical-house vibe with vocals reminiscent of the early 90's house tracks that rocked the world then and serve as a standard today, a standard that 'Take Me Higher' more than lives up to.
The second original tune on the EP is 'The Blue's'. This one wanders more into the acid-house genre with its 303 bass line croaking along as pads rise behind it before a scratchy monologue takes our attention.
Kevin Over takes 'Take Me Higher' to new heights with his remix. Stripping the track down and adding a sense of urgency. Taking the original warm vibes and putting them on edge with contagious percussion. After the break though, he brings the piano back to fill the rooms with sunshine once again, and ending the EP with a fantastic remix of an already brilliant track.

- Right Now - Brett Gould - 6:18
- Rising - Brett Gould - 5:38
Brett Gould arrives on Definition:Music off the back of a strong run on Glasgow Underground, and the 'Hold On EP' is three tracks of exactly what he is known for.
The title track is built around a chopped 'Hold On' vocal and the kind of UK bass weight that is his signature - straight to the point and straight at the floor.
'Right Now' is the hard one. Full throttle from the first bar, with no pretence of being anything else.
'Rising' closes the EP quieter than its siblings - which is not to say quiet. It keeps the pressure under the surface instead of throwing it, and it is the one that stays with you.

Released 2014-06-09
- One Hand - Frag Maddin - 7:27
- Brochette - Frag Maddin - 7:12
- Red Eye - Frag Maddin - 7:01
- Gonna Be - Frag Maddin - 7:36
The always on point Definition:Music is back with another killer house EP, this time from Frag Maddin, the Hamburg man who has impressed with previous releases on labels like Area Remote and Heinz Music. With a background that includes drumming in a punk rock band and producing hip-hop, this young and hyperactive talent has plenty of real skills that truly show in his four new cuts.
Up first is 'One Hand', a mid tempo deep house effort with dark filtered vocals sounding like your subconscious as they mutter here and there. Woody drums and rough percussion drive things along and the vibe is a curious, inviting and intimate one.
'Brochette' is a lush and even deeper number with golden chords, rough-cut drums and blissed out melodies that speak to a beach party sensibility. Next up, 'Red Eye' is another nicely analogue and textured house jam that glides along on crisp and clean hi hats, with a buried deep bassline bringing the cool and effortless funk.
Last track 'Gonna Be' is a nice elastic construction with more humid pads, nicely live sounding percussion work and well-treated vocals all fusing together into an easy to love house jam. This is a fresh, engaging EP that confirms both Definition:Music and Frag Maddin to be fine house exponents.

Definition:Music have only gone and done it again! The bumper-packed two tracker kicks off with the title-track, 'Trap'D'. A majestic dancefloor battle weapon which will have both the guys and girls dancing in unison on the floor, it's full of zest and moves at a relentless booty-shaking pace that we can't help but admire. The wondrous vocals weave their way in and out of the record; providing an extra layer to a track which is sure to go down a storm in the sets it's sure to pervade over the next few months. A perfect demonstration of how to combine old-school and modern techniques, it's nothing if not an extremely auspicious Definition debut for Mr. Antony.
On the remix front, it's returning duo Origins Sound who take the reins with their manic interpretation. The Bath lads' reworking of the track goes deep and dexterous in its search for pleasures, while the bellowing bassline keeps us on our toes thanks to a mound of suspense which comes about through the pair's liberal use of some ravey chords and a simmering dollop of rich, nuanced snares. All things considered, it's another surefire winner from the Definition:Music crew.

DMU014 - Reignition EP - Jus Nowhere
Released 2014-03-10
Remix by Hausick
- Reignite - Jus Nowhere - 7:01
- Reignite (Hausick Remix) - Jus Nowhere - 6:30
- Hip House - Jus Nowhere - 6:25
- Shameless - Jus Nowhere - 6:03
Following on from releases by Hector Couto, Ben Mono and Origins Sound, comes the latest chapter in the Definition:Music imprint, as old-school house revivalist Jus Nowhere joins forces with the label for the gorgeous, stupendous sounds of the Reignition EP.
A release that stays true to the label's impressive ethos of promoting both established and fledgling producers, the EP is indicative of house music in its most multilayered and fascinating form. Opener 'Reignite' is an impressive sojourn through the murky depths of 90's house music, with its bulbous sound one that veers left and right and upside-down from start to finish. In other words, it features surprises aplenty, and in that essence, it's the perfect track with which to introduce the EP.
Hausick then dives aboard the remix ship for an effort that evokes further connotations with retro pastures. The Tunisian native lets the bassline shine on his outing, as a series of captivating bleeps play a meticulous and most important role on his remix of 'Reignite'.
On 'Hip House', the EP's given a moment's respite thanks to the gloriously spaced out sounds that lumber throughout, before final track 'Shameless' comes up trumps with a garage/house hybrid that's tough not to fall head over heels with. Another victory for Definition, a label that's fast becoming a more than solid place for spectacular house offerings.

DMU015 - Remixed - Various Artists
Released 2014-03-10
Remixes by Darius Syrossian & Josh Butler, Cecyl, Reboot
- Sunday Anthem (Darius Syrossian & Josh Butler Remix) - Hector Couto - 6:25
- Days Without You (Cecyl Remix) - Darius Syrossian - 9:37
- Mi Nombre (Reboot's Remastered Remix) - Katoline, Horatio - 10:29
Three remixes of three of the label's own records - 'Remixed' looks back over the first years of Definition:Music from the vantage point of 2014.
'Sunday Anthem' returns as a Darius Syrossian and Josh Butler remix, the first time the two worked together, and it became a hit in its own right.
Cecyl takes 'Days Without You' the other way: where the original was a house record, his remix is deep and hypnotic.
And 'Mi Nombre', the record the label started with, comes back as Reboot's remix, remastered.

DMU013 - Detroit Cuts EP - Origins Sound
Released 2014-02-10
- Detroit Cuts - Origins Sound - 6:28
- Black - Origins Sound - 7:00
- Amery - Origins Sound - 6:42
Having closed out 2013 in some style thanks to the inimitable sounds of Hector Couto, Darius Syrossian and Ben Mono, Swiss label Definition:Music picks up where they left off this time around thanks to British duo Origins Sound, who mark their return to the label thanks to the Detroit Cuts EP.
And as you'd imagine from the title, it's abundantly obvious where the influences for this one stem from. Make no mistake, however; this is no flippant, throwaway revival fare, but is instead a series of tracks that celebrate and pay homage to the Motor City's rich musical heritage. The title track illustrates a case in point, with its well-heeled bass timbres and its spiky yet infectious synths leading us down a stuff and stifling path that's laden with sonic nuances and undoubted flair from the first beat to the last.
Middling effort 'Black' then introduces us to the duo's more introspective side, with its shining, subtle melodies injecting the EP with an almost tangible human warmth. Stuffed full with unsuspecting twists and turns, it showcases the pair's undoubted eclecticism with some panache.
The final twist in the tale is 'Amery', a track that makes smart use of some lovely samples and a bassline that flirts with peak-time pastures. Trippy but void of novelty and still discerning, it's another track that leads us down a path that's full of hidden crevices and various other nooks and crannies that are worth getting lost in. An extremely auspicious start to the year for both Origins Sound and the Definition crew.

DMU012 - The Dub Feel - Ben Mono
Released 2014-01-06
- The Dub Feel - Ben Mono - 5:52
- The Dub Feel (Urulu's Anxiety Mix) - Ben Mono - 6:29
The latest man to step up to the Definition:Music mantle is German producer Ben Mono. The sometime Compost, Exploited, Stil Vor Talent and Permanent Vacation man is among the most renowned such producers to grace the contemporary house field, and on The Dub Feel EP, he emphatically reminds us exactly why this continues to be the case.
It's the title track that brings the EP to life. Powerful, frantic and bulging with charismatic appeal, it magnificently walks a tightrope that placed between peak-time and discerning flavours. Full of musical charm and blissful melodies alike, it's the sort of battle-weapon that'll spring any dancefloor into life.
On the remix front, Urulu serves up a potent reminder of his own talents courtesy of his 'Anxiety' mix. Unlike the original, it's rolled out at a more gentle pace, and while the throbbing kicks pack more punch than a heavyweight boxer, it's still an altogether different proposition. The whimsical percussion and the canny drums put paid to that fact, while the majestic chords combine to bring you to a place that's teaming with endless fantasies. Mono yes, but monotone? Not on Definition:Music's watch.

DMU011 - Sunday Anthem - Hector Couto
Released 2013-12-09
Remixes by Dene Antony, Definition
- Sunday Anthem - Hector Couto - 6:34
- Sunday Anthem (Dene Antony Remix) - Hector Couto - 5:19
- Sunday Anthem (Definition Remix) - Hector Couto - 6:49
Spanish producer Hector Couto is part of a new breed of tech-house inclined musicians making their mark on the scene. Considering his short but prolific career has already led him to famous outlets such as Get Physical, Saved, Hot Creations and Noir, that's hardly surprising either. This time around, he perks up on the Swiss-based Definition:Music for the first time since his collaboration with VIVa mainstay Darius Syrossian, the quite emphatic Here We Come. The good news is that Sunday Anthem is a no less enticing affair.
Indeed, the title track sees Couto set his stall out in a fairly vintage manner. Sprightly, energetic and with more than enough groove with which to ignite the 'floor, Sunday Anthem is precisely the sort of anthem that will work wonders incidentally, at Sankeys on a Sunday. Where, it might not have escaped your attention, is exactly when Syrossian & co. line up for their weekly Ibiza parties.
On the remix front, Dene Antony unleashes an absolute pearl of a remix, as he makes the original even more frenetic thanks to some more solid kicks and a bumping bassline that makes all the right noises. Great work from the Yorkshire producer; a man who we're sure to hear more of on this sort of form. Lastly, Definition turns in a remix that's stuffed full with ravey stabs, harmonious melodies, some clever drumwork and a barrage of suspense. It proves a fitting end to an altogether excellent EP.

DMU010 - Jump Around EP - Stefano Esposito
Released 2013-10-07
Remix by Jordan Peak
- Jump Around - Stefano Esposito - 7:37
- Mad Mama's Blues - Stefano Esposito - 6:51
- Crumbs - Stefano Esposito - 5:45
- Crumbs (Jordan Peak's Rogue Rework) - Stefano Esposito - 7:43
The Zurich-based Definition:Music has really been on a roll of late, with originals and remixes by Darius Syrossian & Hector Couto, Reboot, Sidney Charles and Josh Butler (among others) really setting the label on their way to success. If that all sounds like an auspicious start to proceedings, then wait until you check out their latest slab of wonderfully curated electronic music, as this time it's the turn of young Naples native Stefano Esposito. And Esposito's debut for the imprint, it's fair to point out, is the sort of record that belies his youth and his relatively short stint in the production game.
The Jump Around EP, then, is an offering that's steeped in hearty house music fare from the get-go. Brash drums, spliced vocals and brash kicks help to set the wheels in motion with some degree of excellence on the wonderfully frantic title-track, and the cosmic tidbits only add to a track that bumps and grinds with a swaggering panache.
Mad Mama's Blues showcases a different side though, one that's as indebted to the sample-heavy sounds of Moodymann as it is any other modern techniques. Ghetto infused vocals shine throughout, but it's the analogue sounding basslines and the crisp hats that lend this one a very synthetic and tangible feel.
Crumbs opts for an acid palette with which to showcase its excellence, with the 909 manipulated to dizzying effect thanks to an elongated bassline that twists and turns throughout, taking the listener down a rabbit hole that's littered with vibey, thoroughbred planes. Emerging UK producer Jordan Peak has the last laugh soon after, as he turns in a remix of the latter that's laden with hissing snares and a quite exceptional dose of anticipation. A 'Rogue Rework' it most certainly is, but make no mistake about it, this is an EP where every producer delivers with some aplomb.

DMU009 - Days Without You - Darius Syrossian

- Days Without You - Darius Syrossian - 5:35
- Days Without You (Sidney Charles Remix) - Darius Syrossian - 6:54
- Days Without You (Def:Play & Definition Remix) - Darius Syrossian - 6:22
After the roaring success of the 'Here We Come EP' by Darius Syrossian and Hector Couto released at the beginning of 2013, Definition:Music are proud to finally present the follow up three track 'Days Without You EP' by Darius Syrossian. The 'Days Without You EP' is a high-octane journey through expertly forged underground house.
Darius' original of 'Days Without You' kicks off the EP in fine style and has all the elements which he is synonymous with: gritty percussive groove and deadly deep bass that are complemented by a well executed soulful vocal. The end result is a track that is guaranteed to cause delirium on a peak-time dancefloor.
First up on remix duty is Definition:Music label heads Def:Play who switch up the bass line and add vocal snippets yet still manage to retain the raw essence of the original. Rounding off the EP on a deeper tip is Hamburg's Sidney Charles. From the off he makes his stamp on the original, adding melodic organ stabs, soaring synths and a rolling bassline.
Overall then on the 'Days Without You EP' Darius lives up to his billing as one of the hottest producers currently operating in the house scene, and with help from Def:Play and Sidney Charles, he has delivered a classy and distinctive EP.

DMU003 - My Soulful Heart (feat. Roland Clark) - Katoline, Horatio
Released 2012-10-14
Remix by DJ Le Roi
- My Soulful Heart - Katoline, Horatio - 10:18
- When You Lose A Friend - Katoline, Horatio - 7:12
- My Soulful Heart feat. Roland Clark (DJ Le Roi Remix) - Katoline, Horatio - 7:28
We all remember Definition:Music 001, Horatio & Katoline - 'Mi Nombre'. A track remixed by the grand master Reboot himself, which shook things up and brought this label into the spotlight. We awaited the follow up and it came as a warm collaboration between this dynamic duo (H&K) and the uber producer, DJ and vocalist Roland Clark.
What I like about these guys is that they always adapted their sound to fit in. This time they surprised us with a warm, deep, nu disco sound, a richly textured Eastern European influenced Black Sea sound. The Original Mix melds the soft melancholy of much Middle Eastern music with the rapidly changing structures of contemporary music, and works beautifully. And by the way, it gets more seductive with every listen.
'When You Lose A Friend' follows the same line of slow, deep, sexy, nu disco rhythm that this EP carries out. From what we understood this track has a special story, actually being a tribute to a long lost friend of Horatio. A grand master in martial arts that was a mentor, a friend, a father figure that helped guide him through life. It brought chills on my spine when I heard it and for sure you can feel a lot of emotions when you listen to it.
DJ Le Roi returns after his bomb release 'I Get Deep', offsetting a remix with a more traditional electronic sound. His remix is a strong statement: a full-bodied 4/4 cut laced with slightly deep synth and half-sung, half-chanted vocals from Roland - all in keeping with the Middle Eastern feel of the record. The funky bass chords are perfect for dancing barefoot in the club because you are too sweated to keep your shoes on...

- Thug Life (Sergio Santos & Tamer Malki Remix) - Garibovic - 6:43
- Thug Life (Washerman Remix) - Garibovic - 6:45
- Thug Life (Definition Remix) - Garibovic - 6:38
Garibovic is one of the hottest new starz shooting for a well deserved success. His new EP is mostly a mixture of nu disco and electronic beats that are glued together quite nicely. Even better, Garibovic seems great at picking not only the hottest, but best remixers around.
Washerman provides a deep as can be mix that is catchy enough to hook nearly anyone. Prime time dancefloor magic or leather chair relaxation music, this mix is pure ice. Clean vocals, electronic bells, reverse warm pads, and echoes galore are in great abundance throughout the track. Both a workout for your body and your mind, the mix is one of those that you can listen to at your house and not wonder when it's over. In fact, I was quite disappointed when it was over…
Sergio Santos & Tamer Malki are amazingly talented at what they do, and this one only proves it more so. Many tracks appeal to one producer, but this is one of the rare ones that will appeal to everyone. Superb rhythm, sounds, and atmosphere throughout, well worth checking out.
